Night Walk – Mt Tarrengower and ANZAC Hill area

The night walk to Mt Tarrengower and ANZAC Hill is taken by local historian Ray Stevenson who knows the mountain and its history like the back of his hand. A great learning opportunity of the history within the region, the Aboriginal names for the surrounding mountains, mine diggings, war history of the mountain, artifacts, flora and fauna and more. On a clear night the stargazing has to be seen to be believed and Ray may then provide an astronomy lesson as an added bonus. The walk though can also be focused on just one or two areas depending on the objectives of your group.

Cost: $70.00 per group

Availability: Available as long as Ray is available and the weather permits we do the night walk. Note that we have walked in the rain before but not thunderstorms or high winds.

Equipment: All individuals will require a torch. They should also have appropriate clothing depending on the time of year. Having wet weather gear like a waterproof coat available is essential to you for this activity, or even for your bike rides at camp if it rains.

Time Taken: 90 to 120 minutes. Starting normally from around 7.15pm to 7.30pm. If stargazing and astronomy lesson (clearer night required) is on the agenda for the walk, during the daylight savings period it is beneficial to start a little later than the standard starting time.

Night Town Walk – Maldon Township

Your guide Ray Stevenson will provide an interesting insight into the buildings around town dating back to the 1850’s, fascinating stories of the locals and how they lived, possibly the railway and more may be included in this tour. If the night is clear and time permits, then stargazing may be another part of this tour with an astronomy lesson from your guide.
